Athri

name Athri age Unknown (young adult) concept Twitchy, high-strung, paranoid space-pilot home Flying between outer rim worlds sign Aquarius??
personality ▼
Unless asleep, Athri never stops moving. Fidgeting, twitching, ruffling their little mane of spines, refolding their wings. Between the continual current of anxiety that runs through them at all times, and the fact that doing anything other than rocketing through the air at top speed (either via their ship or their own wings) is almost physically painful for them, the little motions are compulsive and constant. They try to mitigate this restlessness with hours running on their treadmill, playing high-energy music on their device, and diving full-force into any task that happens to catch their attention.
Athri's demeanor is as prickly as their spines. When they speak, it's with a start-and-stop sort of cadence that makes it seem as though whoever is controlling their voice has one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake at all times, and doesn't know how to shift out of the "sharp, unimpressed monotone" gear. Likes: flying, gambling, and dismantling the system! Doesn't like: tight spaces, being touched, and processed food (because everyone KNOWS they put microchips in that shit)!

appearance ▼
Athri is a small, thin-boned, vaguely-reptilian Xeno of unknown designation. They're probably around five feet tall, but exact numbers are impossible to get because that would require them to both stand up straight and stand still long enough for measurements to be taken. Their bat-like wings also function as hands, with three clawed digits being dexterous enough for intricate tinkering. Their entire body is covered with dull, bluish green scales, with the ones running up their spine and covering their scalp being elongated spikes. These spikes are capable of movement, and the way they flair or slick down says much more about their mood than their relative lack of facial expression or inflection in their voice.
abilities ▼
Way Abilities: The Force The Way is the energetic field that inhabits the universe, and Athri is one of the few beings not only able to harness and manipulate it, but also generate it from within themselves. For most of Athri's life, this had only manifested in them as the ability to generate powerful currents of air that they use in a variety of ways, including providing lift around their wings for boosted flight. Very recently however, Athri also learned that they can sometimes tap into and sense things through the Way, and are able to generate bolts of lightning, but they only know how to do either of these when under duress. (With the overabundance of energy they generate, they would also make an excellent battery, but they're really hoping that this very exploitable quality is never discovered by others.)
Skills: Underneath all of the paranoia and commitment to conspiracy theories, Athri is actually far more intelligent than most expect. They learn extremely quickly, have superior pattern recognition skills, and have overclocked mental reflexes on par with their physical ones. These skills make them a formidable hacker and exceptional pilot, as well being able to hold their own when it comes to robotics and mechanics despite it not being their primary focus. Their physical reflexes, dexterity, and speed mean that they are also skilled in being stealthy and hard to catch.
Weaknesses: While Athri is a powerhouse when it comes to speed and brainpower, they receive failing grades in strength and fortitude. One of the reasons that they work so hard to avoid getting caught is that their little body and hollow bird-bones cannot take a punch. They're also pretty much hopeless in any matter that requires social skills or emotional control whatsoever. Another major shortcoming is their penchant for anxiety and panic. Combine that with their low impulse control, and Athri can be counted on to be the first one to flee, hide, or succumb to irrationality when faced with any of their many fears. They're easy to terrorize. Finally, they're also a gambling addict... so that hasn't been great either.
